Best Neighborhoods for a Brewery Crawl — Data-Ranked Walkability Scores (2026)

Forget Yelp lists and blog opinions. We used Walk Score data, brewery clustering analysis, and our proprietary Brewery Walkability Score (BWS) to find the 25 best neighborhoods in America for walking between craft breweries. The winner: Seattle with a BWS of 97.2 and 13 breweries within walking distance.

A great brewery crawl isn't just about having lots of breweries nearby — it requires walkable streets, transit access, and a tight cluster of taprooms. Our BWS metric combines Walk Score (40%), Transit Score (30%), Bike Score (30%), plus a cluster bonus for neighborhoods where breweries are within 0.5 miles of each other.

What Makes a Perfect Brewery Crawl?

The data reveals a clear pattern: the best brewery crawl neighborhoods combine three factors. First, a Walk Score above 80 — meaning most errands can be done on foot. Second, at least 3 breweries within 0.5 miles of each other. Third, good transit access for getting home safely after.

Cities like Portland, San Diego, and Denver consistently show up not because they have the most breweries, but because their brewery clusters are concentrated in walkable, transit-served neighborhoods. A city with 100 spread-out breweries scores lower than a neighborhood with 5 within walking distance.

Methodology

BWS (Brewery Walkability Score) = Walk Score × 0.4 + Transit Score × 0.3 + Bike Score × 0.3 + Cluster Bonus. Cluster Bonus awarded when 3+ breweries within 0.5-mile radius. Walk/Transit/Bike Scores from WalkScore.com. Brewery data from Open Brewery DB. Only ZCTAs with 3+ active breweries included. Analysis by BrewDensity.com.
